LAHORE - GC University Vice Chancellor Dr Khalid Aftab has discussed in detail the security arrangements in the university with the heads of all administrative and academic departments on Thursday. On this occasion, the universitys staff members suggested that special lectures should be held in cooperation with the Punjab government to aware the students about the situation and methods of their personal security. It was also decided that special emergency exercises and demonstrations should be held in all the universities in cooperation with the government. The VC told the staff members about the existing security arrangements, measures being taken after the recent terror attacks on International Islamic University Islamabad and future security plans. The departments heads made a large number of suggestions about the security of the students and the staff. Dr Khalid welcomed all the proposals and necessary orders were issued for their implementation. Speaking on the occasion, the VC said the university would put in all possible efforts for the security of its students and staff members. He asked the students and staff members not to worry, saying, We will keep our faith as strong as ever. Dr Khalid Aftab says there is a dire need to change our attitudes, adding we have to put some restrictions on ourselves for our personal security and the security of our children and colleagues. The GCU administration thanked the Punjab government for offering facilities to the university for their security including the training of their security staff.
