OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said 'dengue of corruption and plundering has ruined the country. In Pakistan, institutions are weak whereas persons are powerful, he said. Had accountability of judges, generals and politicians held in the past, today no one would have been dared to loot the national exchequer. He said that young generation was precious asset and guarantee of bright future. It is the need of the hour that it should stand up for eliminating corruption from the country and putting it on the road to progress, he advised. He was addressing a seminar on the role of youth in the campaign against dengue held at University of Engineering and Technology on Saturday. Provincial Minister for Education Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, Members National and Provincial Assembly, Vice Chancellor, professors, teachers and a large number of male and female students were present on the occasion. Addressing the seminar, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that today Pakistan was passing through a very critical juncture, corruption and plundering is rampant and we are facing worst load-shedding, poverty, unemployment and ignorance. He said that two segments of the society politicians and military dictators were responsible for creating such situation in the country. He said that we have to march forward by rectifying these mistakes. He said that those nations who got freedom after us, made tremendous development through hard work. We can also put the country on the road to progress and prosperity by making hard work, honesty and trust as our motto, he said. He further said that mistakes were made during the last 64 years but we have to march forward for developing the country by learning lesson from the mistakes and politicians, bureaucrats, judges and generals would have to held accountable themselves so that people could say that their rulers were real Khadim. Addressing the students, the Chief Minster said that our youth were talented and had the passion of deep love with the country and the nation. He expressed his faith that our young generation was the future hope and had the urge to solve the serious issues. He stressed upon the male and female students to support the government for eradication of dengue and play their effective role for creating awareness among people regarding preventive measures from dengue virus. Earlier, presenting the welcome address Vice Chancellor Lt. Gen.(R) Muhammad Akram Khan informed about the details of steps taken for eradication of dengue virus and its prevention.
