A Supreme Court of Pakistan’s three-member bench has restored the Punjab Assembly membership of PML-N leader Chaudhry Muhammad Yousuf Kaseliya, declaring an election tribunal’s decision null and void.

Election Tribunal Multan Judge Rana Zahid Mehmood on the application filed by Pir Ghulam Mohiuddin Chishti had disqualified Mr Kaseliya on October 17 and ordered the Election Commission of Pakistan to hold by-election in the constituency within 90 days. Three days ago, the Election Commission of cancelled his membership in compliance with the election tribunal's decision.

However, he had challenged the decision in the Supreme Court. The SC bench comprising Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk, Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry and Justice Amir Hani hearing the petition suspended the election tribunal’s decision and restored his membership.

DACOITY: Three armed robbers ridding on motorcycle looted Rs300,000 from a person and injured him and his companion for offering resistance near Chak 269/EB on Wednesday.

Bashir Ahmad Panwar and his escort Allah Rakha were going to pay cash to farmer Sheikh Raheel of Arifwala. Near Chak 269/EB, three robbers intercepted them and snatched the cash and fled away. The injured were admitted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Burewala.
