ORAKZAI AGENCY - Amid reports of detection of two polio cases in Orakzai Agency, 10,000 children have remained deprived of anti-polio vaccines during the drive in Mamozai, an area lying under the control of militants. Like elsewhere in the country, the Health Department carried out a three-day anti-polio drive in Orakzai Agency, in which over 32,000 children were vaccinated. However, like previous years, about 10,000 children in Mamozai tehsil were not administered drops in the ongoing anti-polio campaign. An official concerned said that two fresh polio cases were also reported in the agency, as the polio teams had no access to certain areas. He said it was an alarming situation for the Health Department and the government. He said that currently a total of 29 polio cases had been reported only in Fata just because of refusal to administration of vaccines. He stressed need for chalking out a strategy to meet the refusal cases in order to eradicate the menace of polio from the country.
