QUETTA - Mastung Levies apprehended 20 members of Shia community for travelling Iran in a bus without security and handed over them to Quetta administration on Thursday. Slahuddin Khan, the additional deputy commissioner said since home and tribal affairs department had banned any traveling by Shia community to Iran without security, none could violate the directions. He said the ban was imposed after Mastung attack on Tuesday last in which 29 passengers including 26 Shia pilgrims and two Sunnis were killed and seven others sustained injuries. He said the purpose of taking these persons into custody was to discourage the practice of moving without security on the part of members of Shia community as well as transporters and even travel agents. He said the government of Balochistan had also warned strictly the transporters and travel agents not to carry out sensitive movements on Quetta-Taftan route. ADC said that members of Hazara tribe, in fact, had hidden themselves in the bus and the transporter was smuggling them to Iran cheating the administration and to avert any untoward incident. He said the bus was also impounded and the driver and cleaner were arrested while action would be taken against the transport company. According to home and tribal affairs department no one from Shia community is allowed to travel without security. The department has asked the Shia organisations and elders of Hazara community to extend their cooperation with the government by informing it prior to their movements.
