ISLAMABAD - Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan yesterday stressed the need for choking terror funding and its international links.

He made these remarks in a meeting with British Secretary of State, Tobias Martin Ellwood who called on him at the Punjab House.

UK High Commissioner Philip Barton was also present.

“Pakistan is making sincere efforts for peace in the region despite provocations and allegations from the other side," said a statement issued by the Ministry of Interior.

Talking to Parliamentary Under Secretary, the Interior Minister said that Pakistan gives great importance to its relations with the United Kingdom. He expressed satisfaction over the level of multifaceted cooperation existing between the two countries.

While underscoring the need for greater efforts at the international level for complete elimination of terrorism, the Interior Minister also observed that the international community needs to acknowledge Pakistan’s sacrifices it rendered in the fight against terrorism.

He stressed upon the need for greater efforts at international level to choke terrorists funding and identifying their financiers.

The interior minister said that despite great losses, Pakistani people are committed to root out the menace of terrorism. He said that Operation Zarb-i-Azb is moving forward successfully giving a clear message to everyone.

British Minister appreciated sacrifices made by the people and the Government of Pakistan and said that the UK values these contributions. He assured UK Government's all possible support for peace, development and strengthening of the institutions in Pakistan.
