LAHORE:  Suspending a notification issued by Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday allowed parliamentarians to take part in campaigning of by- elections.

The court issued its ruling on a petition of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) challenging ECP code that bars parliamentarians from participating in campaign for by-elections scheduled in various constituencies.

In the verdict, the LHC allowed MNAs to take part in electioneering, and suspected the ECP’s code of conduct.

Meanwhile, senior PTI leader Hamid Khan said that Imran Khan could take part in the election campaign for by-polls in NA-122, Lahore, where the polling is scheduled to be held on Oct. 11.

By-polls will also be held in NA-154 (Lodhran) on the same date.
