LAHORE - Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar M Khan Tuesday approved the Pakistan U-19 squad for the tour to Sri Lanka following the recommendation of the four-member junior selection committee.

The junior selection committee was headed by Basit Ali, with Ali Zia, Ali Naqvi and Farrukh Zaman as members. Pakistan team will play two three-day and five one-day matches against Sri Lanka U-19. The team will depart on October 1. “The U-19 squad consists of 16 players. It will form the nucleus of our team for the ICC World Cup next year, hence the extra player,” said the PCB chief.

The 16-member Pakistan U-19 squad consists of Abdullah Shafiq (Sialkot), Zeeshan Malik (Rawalpindi), Shadab Khan (Rawalpindi), Umair Masood (wk – Rawalpindi), M Umar (Fata), Hayatullah (Fata), Sameen Gul (Fata), Hamza Khan (Peshawar), Aon Abbas (Islamabad), M. Bilal Shah (Abbottabad), Irfan Liaqat (Multan), Imran Rafiq (captain-Multan), Hassan Mohsin (Karachi), Awais Iqbal (vc-Rawalpindi), Saif Ali Ghauri (Karachi) and Kamran Afzal (Lahore). Asjad Nawaz (Islamabad), Saif Badar (Silakot), Aarish Ahmad (wk – Karachi), Asad Malik (Hyderabad) and Mir Wais Khan (Lahore) are reserve players.
