Islamabad - The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) has decided to waive off the decision of conducting assessment/exit exams after one year house job.

The decision was taken as the exit examination system was started a few months ago by the PM&DC, requiring every medical student to take an exam following the completion of a house job.

Chairman Management Committee Maj Gen (Retd) Dr Azhar Mehmood Kayani said the decision is taken in the best interest, as the decision of clearing exit/assessment examination had caused apprehension among medical/dental students as they fear being unable to practice after the completion of their house job.

The chairman of management committee said that instead of examining medical dental students after having qualified through all the necessary examinations earlier, the committee has decided to inspect the hospitals to monitor the training facilities of house job.

The meeting was attended by committee members including Prof Dr Abid Z Farooqi, Prof Dr Syed Nadeem Hassan Rizvi, Khashi-ur-Rehman and Saira Najeeb.
