Islamabad/rawalpindi - The law-enforcement agencies have arrested a member of a banned outfit Lashkar-e-Jhangvi from Jhangi Syedan area of the federal capital.

The accused has been identified as Zaheer Muavia.

The security agencies have recovered weapons, ammunition and Jihadi literature from the accused.

He has been booked under anti-terrorism laws, the police said.

Meanwhile, Rawalpindi police conducted search operations in various areas and held 6 illegal Afghan immigrants, besides the tenants and landlords on charges of not providing tenants’ details to police.

Police said a total of 105 house were checked during search operation by police teams in the areas of Saddar Bairooni and Airport police stations.

Police have beefed up security measures in the city ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
