LAHORE - A woman was killed and 14 persons were injured in different roof collapse incidents amid downpour in Lahore on Tuesday. Rescue workers said the injured were shifted to hospitals where they are under medical treatment.

A 45-year-old woman was buried alive while her three family members injured critically when the roof of a house collapsed on them in Dubanpura locality of Sabzazar scheme. Rescue workers rushed to the spot soon after the incident and launched the search and rescue operation during heavy rain. A woman, Gull Bibi, died on-the-spot while Shireen Khan, 50, Sher Ali, 8, and Rohiya, 6, were pulled out from the debris with serious injuries. They were shifted to hospital. The roof of the dilapidated house collapsed amid downpour on early Tuesday, locals said.

In another incident, at least six persons of a family were injured seriously when the roof of a house caved in near Green Acre scheme in Nawab Town police precincts. Rescue officials said the house was in dilapidated condition.

All the six family members were present at home located in TNT Society when its roof collapsed on them. As a result, Bashiran Bibi, 35, Manzoran Bibi, 30, and her children including Irfan, Usman, Imran, and Abdul Wahab received serious injuries. They were shifted to Jinnah Hospital.

Meanwhile, the roof of another house collapsed in Shahdara Town during heavy rains. As a result, four members of a family sustained injuries. They were shifted to hospital by Edhi ambulance service.
