KARACHI - Trans Lyari Bachao Tehreek (NGOs alliance) on Sunday announced to demolish the encroachments by themselves at Gattar Bagicha Park located in Trans Lyari SITE Town on 26 August. Tehreeks Chairman Nadir Baloch said that despite launching several campaigns against the encroachments and taking the matter into the notice of the high ups, no action has been taken so far. Such attitude of the government proves that the governments writ does not exist there, he added. He said that now they had decided to take out the land grabbers from the said Bagicha, while the area people are going to eliminate the illegal violators and will construct their houses in the said land. He said that they have been demanded to secure the land of Gattar Bagicha, which was allocated for the park in the name of former Prime Minister late Benazir Bhutto, from the encroachers but the government never entertained their demands. He said that the amenity plot of 30 acres of land linked with Hasrat Mohani College had been occupied by the influential group patronised by Sindh Government. He alleged that the occupation showed that land mafia had total control over the administration and the government, while the provincial government has also set free the influential group whose activities are uninterrupted. The Sindh High Court has already issued a stay order but that the land mafia has also violated order. He vowed for continuing their struggle to save the 480 acres of Gattar Bagicha from the mafia by launching agitation across the city. Moreover, he assured the people of Old Golimar of his full support, on behalf of his party, for launching the matter of Gattar Bagicha on every platform.
