KARACHI - Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested five alleged target killers from different areas of the metropolis. Addressing a press conference, SSP Central Asim Qaimkhani and SSP South Naeem Sheikh claimed to have arrested four alleged criminals belong to Akram Baloch group of Lyari. It is pertinent to mention here that the alleged criminals have affiliation with Akram Baloch group, an old allied of Pakistan Peoples Party and very much closed to its higher hierarchy. Sources privy to the matter disclosed that Baloch had a dispute with the dominated gangsters of Lyari headed by Baba Ladla. Ladla is not only operating the gang alone but also operating the Lyari Amn Committee. Police claimed to have arrested the accused persons after an encounter in North Nazimabad area. The suspects Shahnawaz Baloch, Rafiq, Mustafa Baloch and Naeem Jan were arrested along with their weapons and drugs. They confessed their involvement in 13 cases of murder, attempt to murder and kidnapping. Police sources confirmed that the arrested criminals were involved in heinous crimes but police have arrested them just for face saving because law enforcement agencies are unable to arrest the actual culprits involved in ethnic warfare. They further said that the suspects also used to make the videos while torturing the victims and police have also obtained the videos recorded on the cell phones of the suspects. Similarly, Baldia police also claimed to have detained a target killer namely Ejaz Chutto at New Sultan Road. SHO Haq Nawaz said the accused was nominated in 50 to 60 cases and had admitted during initial course of investigation that he had murdered three PPP workers including Ali Nawaz Baloch.
