OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE - The Lahore High Court on Tuesday called for reply from the federal law ministry to a writ petition which challenged the appointment of Capt (r) Shamsher Ali as National Accountability Bureau Acting Director General in Punjab. Justice Ahmad Farooq Sheikh issued this order on the petition filed by Col (r) Ghulam Jaffar, inter alia contending that post of chairman and deputy chairman have been lying vacant over the months and in this situation, the appointment of Punjab DG National Accountability Bureau could not be made. He said under the National Accountability Bureau law, such posts could not be filled without having consultation with chairman or deputy chairman who both are not in the office. After hearing preliminary arguments, the court issued notice to federal law ministry and sought its reply by second week of September.
