The Supreme Court on Wednesday took suo moto notice of the ongoing ethnic bloodletting in Karachi and issued notices to Inspector General Police (IGP) Sindh and Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP) for August 26, besides asking the presidents of Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) and Sindh High Court Bar Association to assist the court on the matter. A two-member bench comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and Justice Ghulam Rabbani will hear the case. The apex court has asked the chief secretary Sindh to submit complete report about the people killed and injured in violence during the last one month in Karachi, besides registration of FIRs and incidents of human rights violation.
