Addressing the meeting, the CM said performance of basic and rural health centres with regard to provision of medical facilities to the masses had been unsatisfactory and despite heavy expenditure on these centres, the masses had been deprived of medical treatment. Therefore, the project of mobile hospitals has been started to extend modern medical facilities to the people of rural areas at their doorstep. A heavy investment has been made on this project for extending quality health services to the people of remote and backward areas, he said, while mentioning that 3-member committee comprising Chairman P&D, Secretary Finance and Secretary Health should negotiate with the companies supplying mobile health units regarding their price, after sale service, provision of spare parts, setting up of workshop, complete medical facilities in mobile hospitals and other matters and ensure that the best mobile health units were purchased at the minimum price.
