KARACHI - Gunmen on Saturday attacked a shrine and killed three people in Korangi area of Karachi.

At least three people were killed when armed men riding a motorcycle opened fire at a shrine ‘Dargah Nazar Shah’ near Nasir Jump, Korangi.

Three people sustained bullet wounds. They were taken to Civil Hospital where doctors pronounced the death of all the three. The victims included Zakir Hussain, 45, and visitors Nawaz and Younas.

On the other side, two sympathisers of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamat were gunned down at Saadat Colony in Shah Faisal Colony police precincts. The victims were identified as Asif, 37, and his maternal uncle as Abdul Shakoor, 50. SP Ali Asif said two armed men came at their shop and gunned them down. Both of them succumbed to injuries on the way to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. ASWJ spokesperson claimed the affiliation of victims with the party.

Meanwhile, three people were shot dead and another wounded in a firing incident in Sohrab Goth on Saturday evening. Police said the victims were sitting at a tea shop near Superhighway. The assailants managed to flee from the scene while the bodies and the injured were taken to a private hospital in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. The victims were identified as Hameedullah, Abdul Hadi and Muhammad Ahmed.

DSP Qamar Ahmed said they were of Afghan origin and had a dispute with the Mullah Samad group of Afghans. The men of Mullah Samad were apparently behind the incident. Further investigation was underway.
