KARACHI - Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Sindh President Nisar Ahmed Khuhro on Tuesday announced PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto would launch its membership campaign countrywide on Sunday.

A meeting of the PPP Sindh office bearers was held at people’s secretariat Karachi which was chaired by the PPP Sindh president and attended by Sindh General Secretary Waqar Mehdi, Vice President Rashid Rabbani, Saeed Ghani and other office bearers and detailed briefing was given to the members over the newly announced membership drive and the membership material was handed over to the district organisations for initiating the drive.

It was decided that the membership drive would continue from January 28 to February 28, and camps would be established at local level where those willing to join the party would enroll themselves. Talking to media, the president said that the membership drive announced by Bilawal Bhutto would be initiated from January 28 for one month.

“There would be no requirement of national identity card for the membership form and other than the new entrants, the old cadre would also had to re enroll themselves in the party,” he said. “The new forms are computerised and therefore the data of all the activists will be recorded with the party in order to get updated regarding its activists,” he said.

He said that the PPP had served the masses irrespective of any differences and the masses had also respected the PPP and given chance every time to rule them. “Our struggle is for the rights of the people and democracy,” he said.

Responding to a query as to why those Sindh assembly members who had changed their loyalties are not resigning from their assembly seats, the minister said that the members were asked to present in person for verification of their resignations, but they did not came up.

“Some of them even do not have submitted their resignations,” he said and adding that it seems that they wanted to enjoy the perks and allowances they are entitled under MPA seat.
