Rawalpindi-Police on Tuesday booked two culprits on charges of attacking a police station and physically assaulting a police officer besides damaging his office and hurling threats of dire consequences at him, informed sources.

The case number 33/18 was lodged with Police Station Cantt on plaintiff of Sub Inspector Idrees Satti against two culprits Iftikhar Bhatti and Akmal Khan under sections 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 186 (Obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) and 427 (Punishment for acts of mischief by damaging or destroying property) of Pakistan Penal Court (PPC), they said. 

City Police Officer Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi has constituted special raiding teams under supervision of SP Potohar Division Syed Ali tasking them to find and arrest the outlaws.

According to sources, SI Idrees Satti, who posted at PS Cantt, filed a plaintiff stating he was organizing a negotiation between Raja Faisal, the applicant of a bank disowning cheque case worth Rs 600,000, and Naheem Qureshi, the brother of accused Wasim Qureshi, in his office when suddenly Iftikhar Bhatti and Akmal Khan stormed into the office.

Iftikhar grabbed him from the collar and pulled to the from seat. “Then the attacker gave me a punch on my face while misbalancing my teeth,” SI mentioned in the plaintiff. He added the attackers damaged his office and broken table glass. He said the attackers threatened him of killing if he did not bow before their illegal demands.

SI informed that two persons named Waqar Ali and Asif Khokhar present in his office in connection to the investigation of a case saved him from the attackers and are the eyewitnesses to the crime. SI Idrees Satti appealed to the police to register a case against the attackers and award them lawful punishment.

A case was registered against the two culprits while further investigation is underway, sources added.

Acting SHO/SI Zameer Shah special raiding teams have been formed by CPO for nabbing the attackers. He said that raids were being carried out at the houses and other possible hideouts of criminals.
