ISLAMABAD - PML-N Information Secretary Ahsan Iqbal on Tuesday announced his plan to revive the International University of Management and Economics (IUME), which was allegedly scrapped by the military regime in 1999. Ahsan Iqbal unveiled his plan at a press conference and said that the IUME was to be established with partnership of the Uzbek Government in 1992 in order to provide equal opportunities of the international standard education to the intelligent students at the gross root level. He flayed the military rulers saying that the projects related to education were also not spared by the dictators. The PML-N leader said that only four percent of Pakistani youth was enrolled for higher studies while rest of the folks either lacked resources or there was no opportunity for them to get standard education. Apart from the IUME, he also announced to restart the Rural Areas Science and Entrepreneurship Project hoping that the project would bring productive output in the field of education.
