LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that all-out resources are being utilised for the provision of basic amenities to the masses and development projects are being executed expeditiously for this purpose. He was addressing a meeting to review the pace of implementation of uplift projects under Annual Development Programme at Chief Ministers Secretariat here Tuesday. Chairman Planning & Development, Secretary Finance and other officers concerned were present. The meeting reviewed the pace of work and utilisation of funds on development projects in various districts of the province. Addressing the meeting, the CM said government has adopted a comprehensive strategy for rapid development of the province and special emphasis is being laid on health, education, potable water and infrastructure development. He said transparency has been ensured in development projects and an effective monitoring system has been devised for all mega projects. He said agriculture is the backbone of national economy and development of this sector is being given due importance. He said ten thousand tractors were given to small cultivators last year through transparent balloting and ten thousand more tractors have been given this year through the same transparent procedure. He said this step of government would help in increasing agri- production as well as prosperity of farmers. He said that solid measures are being taken under Annual Development Programme for the uplift of less-developed areas and development projects are being executed in these areas on priority basis. He said that projects like setting up of a state-of-the-art forensic lab, Danish Schools, veterinary university, distribution of state land as well as provision of 500 tractors to agri-graduates will leave a far-reaching impact on the development of the province. Chairman Planning & Development and Secretary Finance briefed the meeting regarding implementation of development projects and utilization of funds.
