AMMAN (AFP) - Jordan said on Tuesday Pakistan was interrogating four suspects over a recent plot to kidnap the kingdoms Ambassador to Pakistan. The Jordanian government is in touch with Pakistans authorities and we are awaiting details about plot recently to abduct our Ambassador to Islamabad Saleh Jawarneh, government spokesman Nabil Sharif said. We are confident that the authorities in Pakistan are capable of protecting the Jordanian Embassy and its staff. Nabil Sharif did not elaborate, but said Jawarneh is currently in Jordan. Jordan, a key US ally, acknowledged it had a counterterrorism role in Afghanistan after the death in a January suicide bombing of a senior intelligence officer and member of the royal family. His death along with seven US Central Intelligence Agency personnel spotlighted Jordans role in the international coalition in the war-hit country.
