Jamaat-e-Islami Punjab Ameer and MPA-elect Dr Syed Waseem Akhtar has said that those dreaming of friendship with India are not sincere with the country and nation, asking the prime minister-in-waiting to boost ties with China instead.

Talking to the journalists on Thursday, he added that China was a trustworthy friend of Pakistan and the country could benefit at large from the experiences of China. He added that India was enemy of Pakistan and it badly damaged our national and international interests. “India never wastes a chance to damage Pakistan. Our rivers are blocked by Indians, they are involved in terrorism in Balochistan and most of all the genocide of Kashmiris is being committed by them,” he maintained. He said that Pakistan-China friendship was higher than Himalayas and deeper than the sea.

Referring to ongoing terrorism wave in different parts of the country, he suggested to the upcoming government to hold talks with Taliban and bring them into national mainstream politics. “Some powers do not want to see Pakistan prosper and developed,” he regretted. He posed a question that if the US could hold talks with Taliban in Afghanistan why Pakistan was being barred from holding dialogue with Pakistani Taliban. He said that the country would have to revise its foreign and internal policies and pull out of so-called war on terror for restoring peace.

He demanded the upcoming government to adopt immediate steps to end horrible loadshedding in the country. He said that the people were deprived of water and electricity in this sizzling weather. Citing the example of the PPPP, he said that the people rejected them in Election 2013 because of their complete failure to deliver. He warned the PML-N and its allies to learn a lesson from the worst defeat of PPPP in election and offer relief to the people.

He said that the corruption being committed by the caretaker government was alarming and the new government should take notice of this serious issue. He said that the NAB had become dysfunctional and the government needed to constitute a new body to carry out accountability of corrupt elements.
