ISLAMABAD -

Pakistan Sports Board has approved RS 80 million grant for the hosting of 32nd National Games in Islamabad from June 28 to July 3, this was revealed by Rana Mujahid, member POA Interim Committee while addressing a press conference on Thursday. Paksitan Sports Board Director General Syed Amir Hamza Gilani was also present on the occasion.

Rana said PSB has also promised to renovate all the facilities before the start of the games. He said they were trying to invite Prime Minister for the inauguration and President for the closing ceremonies and want to organise National Games in a befitting manner. He reiterated that these are 32nd National Games as the games which were held in Lahore were declared null and void due to non-participation of different departments and Quaid Azam Trophy was also not given that time due to grave controversy surrounding the games. While sharing his views DG Syed Amir Hamza Gilani said, PSB has sanctioned a grant of RS 80 million for the National Games and the amount will be spent only on the games while PSB would also sanction a grant for the renovation/up-gradation of the facilities. He said parallel federations were the main reason behind the decline of sports and it is the duty of the federations to discourage such elements who are involved in these activities.

He said Interim Committee has the mandate of organising these games and next time hopefully an elected POA would be in place and the elected body would decide about conducting the next games.
