PESHAWAR A powerful car bomb blast here Friday in the parking area of Swan Restaurant left 14 persons injured. Police sources informed that the bomb was planted in a car parked in front of the main gate of Wedding Hall of the restaurant. The intensity of the blast was so severe that it jolted the entire Hayatabad area. The blast badly damaged the building of wedding hall. Several vehicles parked in the parking area were also damaged. Soon after the incident, police and Frontier Constabulary personnel cordoned off the area and started rescue operation. The injured were shifted to Hayatabad Medical Complex. The injured were identified as Jamil, Ahmad, Dawood, Abdul Rahman, Amir, Waqar, Bukhtoo, Amjad, Fazal Amin, Umar and Jan Mohammad. According to bomb disposal squad, the bomb was locally made and 60 to 70 kilograms explosive material was used in it. The law enforcement agencies later arrested two suspected persons. Talking to journalists, NWFP Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussian confirmed that it was a car bomb blast. He strongly condemned the incident and said that terrorists wanted to create fear and panic among the masses by targeting public places. He said war against terrorism would continue till elimination of all terrorists from the country. He said like Swat, operation against terrorists in South Waziristan would also be successful. Meanwhile, Awami National Party President Asfandyar Wali Khan and Senator Afrasiab Khattak strongly condemned the bomb blast and said soon terrorists would be rooted out from Pashtoon soil. They maintained that terrorists were targeting mosques, educational institutions and hospital just to frighten masses but they would not be given free hands in this regard and peace would be restored at all cost. Meanwhile, police with the help of eyewitnesses have issued sketch of the terrorist who parked his explosive laden car in front of Swan Restaurant. The terrorist was around 30 to 35 years old with black hair and mustaches. He was wearing Khaki Shalwar Kameez and eyeglass.
