KARACHI – Pakistan No 1 Aqeel Khan clinched double crown of the NBP Subh e Nau tennis championship when he defeated Abid Mushtaq to win the men’s singles crown in a three set final here Tuesday at the floodlit Karachi Gymkhana synthetic courts.He won  6-3,4-6,6-0 in a hard fought contest in which the two played some eye catching shots and were involved in long rallies. NBP’s CSR chief Iqbal Qasim gave away the prizes to the participants. Aqeel Khan won Rs. 35,000 for its men’s singles title and another Rs. 20,000 for winning the men’s double final with his brother Yasir Khan. They beat M Abid Mushtaq and Khalid Ali Nazar 6-3,6-3 in the final.Also present on the occasion were Ms. Shahida Farooq chairperson of Subh e Nau, Dr. Jawwad Chishti director of the championship and officials of Karachi Gymkhana.Rida Khalid won the ladies single title defeating an off colour Maheen Dada 6-4,6-2 to win a purse of Rs. 20,000.Maheen took Rs. 15.000.Finals results: Men’s singles: Aqeel Khan bt Abid Mushtaq; Rida Khalid (Pb) bt Maheen Dada.Men’s doubles.
