SIALKOT - Federal Minister for National Regulation and Services Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Tuesday urged the people to get united to foil evil designs of anti-democratic elements, saying that Pakistan could not afford adventurism.

Addressing a meeting of the PPP workers, she said that the PPP-led government was safeguarding the rights of party workers, saying that they were asset of the party. The federal government was the guardian of democracy and striving for the rights of the masses. The PPP would never allow anyone to derail democracy in the country, as PPP was successfully foiling anti-democracy conspiracies, he added.

She said that the federal government was strengthening the national institutions in the country and promoting democracy and democratic norms and values, besides, putting the country on the way to political and economic stability. She pledged that the PPP would continue serving the masses without any political indiscrimination.

The federal minister said that the general elections would be held on time and the government would complete its constitutional tenure. She said the energy crisis would be resolved at the earliest and PPP leadership had focused its attention to mitigate the problems of masses.

“The PPP is making adequate efforts for strengthening democratic institutions and for promotion of democracy at gross roots level in the country,” she said. “The Pakistan People’s Party is a symbol of federation and safeguarding geographical fronts of the country.”

She added that some anti-democratic forces were trying to weaken the process of democracy for their personal gains. She narrated that the government would fulfill its all pledges despite financial constrains. “The PPP-led government is mobilising all available resources for providing basic facilities to the people at their doorsteps.

THREE DIE IN MISHAP:  Three youths were killed and two others seriously injured as their tractor-trolley overloaded with fodder turned turtle near village Laaliyaan-Sambrial on Sialkot Airport Road on Tuesday.

They were going to their village after overloading the fodder in the trolley, which suddenly turned turtle killing Asad, Awais and Sajawal on the spot and injuring Ashiq and Sajjad seriously. Rescue 1122 officials shifted the injured to hospital in critical condition, besides, shifting the bodies to the Sialkot Hospital for autopsy.
