LAHORE – Former PML-Q MPA from Gujrat Chaudhary Liaqat Ali Bhaddar met with Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday and expressed complete confidence in the leadership of PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif.

In the presence of senior party leaders Raja Ashfaq Sarwar, Syed Noorul Hassan Shah and Ch Abid Raza, Bhaddar announced to join the PML-N. The chief minister welcomed Bhaddar in the party and expressed the hope that the party would get more vigour in the Gujranwala Division with active political role of former MPA.

Bhaddar had lost the last elections to Tanvir Ashraf Kaira, in PP-112, Gujrat. Kaira, cousin of Federal Minister Qamaruz Zaman Kaira, had been recently appointed as PPP Central Punjab General Secretary by President Asif Ali Zardari.

In the same elections, the PML-N candidate could only bag 7,787 votes as such chances were strong for Bhaddar to be fielded in the same constituency in the upcoming elections.

Syed Noorul Hassan Shah, who lost the last election to Qamaruz Zaman Kaira in NA-106, Gujrat and was a PML-Q candidate in same constituency in 2002 elections, had already joined the PML-N. NA-106 houses PP-112 and 113 with Lala Musa Municipality and Dinga Town where Gujjar and Jutt castes played a decisive role in the elections.

During the meeting with Bhaddar, the chief minister also highlighted the projects of the PML-N government for the social and economic uplift of the public and the services rendered over the last four and a half years. Shahbaz said improvement in living standard of the people and providing them basic amenities was the pivot of the politics of the PML-N. He said billions of rupees were being spent on development projects in the province.
