New York:- British author Paul West has died, aged 85. West passed away in Ithaca, New York after suffering complications from pneumonia, according to his wife, nature writer Diane Ackerman. He wrote more than 20 novels between the 1960s and 2003, including Colonel Mint, The Rat Man of Paris, Terrestrials and Love’s Mansion. He also wrote poetry, essays and non-fiction works, including A Stroke of Genius: Illness and Self-Discovery in 1995 about his recovery from a stroke in 1984. West suffered another debilitating stroke while being treated in hospital for a kidney infection in 2003.–COT
