Islamabad - The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to launch crackdown against illegal bus terminals and encroachments in Faizabad and surrounding areas.

The operation is aimed at retrieving the land occupied by illegal bus stands at IJP Road. The CDA is set to conduct ‘grand demolition operation’ on October 26.

The Capital Development Authority has sought assistance from the Islamabad district administration and police to launch the operation.

The deputy DG (land & estate) CDA has asked the deputy commissioner Islamabad to arrange assistance to the enforcement directorate to avert any unpleasant incident as well as maintaining law and order in the vicinity. He has sought three police reserves equipped with anti-riot kits and two lady police reserves. The concerned assistant commissioner and magistrate would also be available on the site.

There are so many illegal bus stands operating along the IJP Road without any permission from the competent authority. According to a CDA’s list of illegal bus stands also seen by The Nation, these include Blue Lines Express, Faisal Movers, Frontier Punjab Travels, Raja Travel, Makkah Travel, Darbar Travel, Shaheen Travel, Dawn Adda and New Bilal Adda. Sources in the CDA said that all these bus stands are operating on the state land. “Neither have they ownership of the land nor have they taken any permission from the competent authority to run the business,” they added.

They said the business is being run in connivance of the CDA officials as they never reported about the illegal occupation of the state land before.

The Capital Development Authority has continued its operation against encroachments in the federal capital. Earlier, the enforcement directorate of CDA has razed hundreds of illegal structures.

Heavy machinery has been used during the operation, which is carried out in the presence of local administration.
