LAHORE - International Cricket Council (ICC) president Zaheer Abbas met Punjab Chief Minister M Shahbaz Sharif here on Friday and discussed matters regarding promotion of cricket.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister said that there was a lot of talent of cricket in Pakistan and the county could regain its status in the cricket world by polishing this talent. The CM said: “The visit of Zimbabwean cricket team to Pakistan is an important step towards revival of international cricket in the country and positive measures should continue in this regard.”

He assured that Punjab government was ready to extend all-out cooperation for this purpose. “Pakistani cricketers have won laurels for the country at international level on several occasions,” he said and added: “Punjab government has provided new grounds for promotion of cricket and other sports and a comprehensive programme is being implemented for this purpose.”
