PESHAWAR  - District Nazim and Awami National Party Swabi chapter President Amir Rahman has urged Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan to materialise his promises regarding empowerment of the Local Government bodies. “We have no intention to disgrace PTI Chief Imran Khan or create hurdles in his political activities in Swabi but his party-led government should devolve powers to the local bodies,” Amir Rahman said here on Friday.

He said that being political worker and followers of Pakhtun leader Bacha Khan, the ANP workers are bound to respect all politicians, including Imran Khan and continue efforts for political goals through peaceful and political means.

Rahman reminded that not only components of Democratic Alliance Swabi but also the newly-elected representatives of Local Government bodies from across the province are demanding rights and due powers.

Before completion of the Local Government elections, he said PTI Chairman Imran Khan and his party other leaders had time and again accredited themselves of empowering Local Government institutions but now these elected representatives, including District, Town Nazims and Naib Nazims have no powers.

The District Nazim reminded Imran Khan and his party other leaders governing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to accomplish their promises and commitments. He also announced to welcome PTI Chief Imran Khan on the eve of his visit on November 1 next with black flags aimed to record their protest in a peaceful way. Rahman said PTI chairman must direct Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, especially Chief Minister Pervez Khattak to transfer due powers to local government institutions, its office holders and councilors.
