WASHINGTON : A shooting linked to a dispute over a dice game has left one person dead and three others injured at Tennessee State University, police said Friday.

A pistol was recovered at the scene but no arrests have been made. The incident took place late Thursday in the courtyard of the university’s Floyd-Payne Campus Center in Nashville, Tennessee, when an argument over a dice game escalated into a physical fight, local police said.

The deceased is a 19-year-old male who is not believed to have been a student at the university. He has not been identified. Police said that two 18-year-old female students — “innocent passersby” — were hospitalized, with one in stable condition but expected to make a full recovery. The other has since been discharged.

A third female student, also 18, received a “very minor graze” and didn’t need medical treatment. Witnesses are being urged to submit cellphone footage to police to help track down the suspect or suspects. Thursday’s incident is the latest in a string of recent shootings on US campuses. On October 1, a gunman opened fire at a community college in Oregon, killing nine people before taking his own life.
