Rawalpindi - The city traffic police impounded more than 650 motorcycles in various police stations of the city yesterday over violation of ban on pillion riding.

As part of the Muharram security plan, District Coordination Officer Sajid Zafar Dall has imposed Section 144 in Rawalpindi district on 9th and 10th Muharram. A ban has also been put on use of the loudspeaker, wall chalking and distribution of hate material.

According to details, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Shoaib Khurram Janbaz ordered traffic wardens to launch a crackdown against the violators of pillion riding in the city. Taking action, the traffic wardens impounded more than 650 motorcycles in police stations of different areas and also issued the fine tickets to the riders.

The CTO lauded the performance of wardens who had performed their duties on 9th Muharram with commitment and dedication. He said that strict action would also be taken against the violators on 10th Muharram.
