Jamaat-e-Islami Punjab Ameer and MPA Dr Syed Waseem Akhtar has demanded the government to pull out of others' war immediately and spend funds currently being gobbled up by the fighting on public welfare.

Talking to the journalists here on Saturday, he added that the so-called war on terror was imposed on Pakistan that caused over $100 billion to the country. He regretted that the ratio of suicides registered alarming increase while those, who claimed to bring change, also failed to deliver. He maintained that the prices of daily-use items and edibles touched an ever high index while other issues like lawlessness, loadshedding and joblessness haunted the lives of Pakistanis.

He accused the rulers of spoiling national resources on security and protocol, saying the country could not make progress until a solid strategy was evolved to get rid of foreign loans, block leakage of funds and revival of national economy. He accused that all from President House up to a small office at district level were involved in corrupt practices. "Daily about Rs1,200 billion is digested by the corrupt elements in the country. It's highly alarming," he warned.

He categorically declared that the solution to all problems being faced by the country and nation lied in elimination of interest-based financial system and enforcement of sharia laws in the country. He said that Allah Almighty blessed Pakistan with rich natural resources and our leadership just needed to give up American slavery and form independent pro-Pakistan policies.

He said that the former rulers put country's sovereignty, security and honour at stake, asking the Nawaz government to adopt solid measures to restore country's respect in the world through a solid policy. He pointed out that ineligible and highly corrupt persons were appointed as heads of strategically important institutions. "That's why today PIA, Pakistan Steel, Railways, FBR and many other institutions have become white elephants," he maintained.
