LAKKI MARWAT: Local administration launched a crackdown on encroachers and profiteers here on Saturday.

A team headed by Additional Assistant Commissioner Pir Muhammad Mehsud paid surprise inspection visits to several bazaars in the urban locality to check prices of daily use commodities and encroachments. Officials with the help of municipal committee employees removed illegal built structures and iron sheds installed in front of shops on main Grand Trunk Road.

The road was cleared for smooth flow of traffic after removing encroachments. Moreover, the officials went to several hotels, bakeries and outlets of grocers, fruit and vegetable sellers and confectioners and checked the availability of official pricelists. The additional assistant commissioner expressed his anger over the poor hygienic condition in the hotels and presence of rotten fruits for sale in the shops. He also took notice of selling of low weight bread (Roti) and inflated rates of custard in city hotels.–Staff Reporter
