PESHAWAR - The cabinet members of Youth Provincial Assembly-Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have urged the PTI-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to own this project and provide a platform to youth to express themselves on various issues.

The project of Youth Provincial Assembly-KP was initiated by PILDAT, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) aimed to inculcate the culture and values of democracy especially in youth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. It aims at introducing the concept of legislative parliamentary debates in the country through youth assemblies, a representative of the NGO said during a press conference here at Peshawar Press Club.

Speaking on the occasion, the Provincial Youth Assembly Minister for Information Zainab Bibi explained the activities done during its one year tenure. She said that the YPA held debates on various issues confronting the people of this province like the law and order situation and then passed resolutions from their 41 members' assembly having a good representation on the basis of population, from all 25 districts of the province.

Flanked by other members of the cabinet including Youth Assembly Chief Minister Danish Babar, YPA Deputy Speaker Janat Akhtar, YPA Minister for Tourism, Khan Buneri and Minister for Law Sadamullah Khan, Zainab said that four sessions of the YPA held during the session 2013. In the four sessions held during one year tenure, she added, the ruling and opposition benches took keen interest in the issues confronting the masses, and after passing resolutions upon it sent to the provincial government in shapes of recommendations.
