Minister of State Saira Afzal Tarar has warned that no slackness, irregularity or negligence in the provision of relief and rehabilitation would be tolerated.

Addressing a meeting which was attended among others by DCO Mansoor Qadir, District Focal Person for Flood Relief Shahid Abbas, MPAs Ch Asadullah Arian and Malik Fayyaz, she said that relief material including ration was being provided by Provincial Disaster Management Authority and it should be distributed to the affectees transparently.  She also directed the Health and Livestock departments to ensure vaccination to the affectees and their animals to prevent outbreak of any epidemic.

The focal person and the DCO while giving briefing to the minister said that 58 villages in tehsil Hafizabad and 43 villages in Pindi Bhattian were inundated with floodwater while different departments were providing relief for the affectees round-the-clock at nine Relief Centres.

Meanwhile, Amanullah called upon the district administration for an early survey of the damage caused to the standing crops and fodders and also for draining out of water in different villages near the Qadirabad barrage. He also demanded construction of a protective dyke on the left bank of River Chenab near Qadirabad Barrage to save the villages in future. He demanded adequate compensation to the affectees. The flow of floodwater in River Chenab at Qadirabad Barrage further reduced to 77,488 cusecs Tuesday evening.

Protest: The family of a 25-year-old man of Sukheke Mandi staged protest demonstration against a private doctor for causing his death due to negligence here the other day.

According to them, Ali was admitted to a private hospital in Jalalpur Bhattian where Dr Haroon told his parents that he was suffering from hernia and a surgery would be conducted in this regard.

However, during operation Ali died.

His dependants alleged that Ali died due to the negligence of the doctor. They raised slogans against the doctor and demanded registration of a case against the doctor for causing the death of Ali.
