The Special District Anti-Theft Squad (ATS) constituted on orders of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for detection of electricity and gas pilferage, conducted a raid at an Ice Factory in Tandlianwala under the supervision of DCO Najam Ahmad Shah here the other night.

The squad traced pilferage of electricity by owner of the factory. DO Malik Mushtaq Ahmad, Tandlianwala AC Muhammad Sarwar, Fesco Chief Engineer Ch Ghulam Rasool, Executive Engineer Samundri, Waqas and SDO Muhammad Arif were included in the ATS raiding party.

The Attaul Mustafa Ice Factory owner Muhammad Ramazan Butt was stealing electricity by putting hooks on live main cable and thus running the heavy compressors and big electricity motors.

The Fesco officials estimated that the accused had stolen electricity worth Rs10 million during the last 3 years with the connivance of Fesco employees.

The Tandlianwala City Police have registered a case against five nominated including Malik Muhammad Ramazan, Assistant Lineman Rana Jawed, Electrician Muhammad Hafeez, Mechanic Shahbaz Butt, Maqsood Butt and four unidentified accused

Meanwhile, the ATS detected illegal use of sui gas by the weaving factory owner in Samanabad.

The accused had installed a dummy gas meter in the factory which was inoperative and the owners were stealing gas worth of Rs15 million per annum. The Samanabad Police have registered a case against the factory owner.

On the occasion, the DCO told that the administration was collecting information about the leakage and pilferage of electricity and gas throughout the district and after the collecting the information a grand operation would be initiated against pilferers of gas and electricity.
