ISLAMABAD  - Chairperson Higher Education Commission (HEC), Dr Javaid R Laghari has said that Higher Education Commission will undertake special training program for Vice Chancellors from Islamic countries.Addressing the concluding ceremony of Second orientation workshop under Modern University Governance Program for University Management, Dr Laghari informed that this idea has already been discussed during the recent meeting of Higher Education Ministers of Islamic countries held at Sudan.He added that this innovative training program would be greatly helpful in improving professional development through latest tools, techniques, best international practices and brining about holistic reformation in university governance and leadership of Islamic world.He furthered that HEC along with its stakeholders including vice chancellors, faculty and students would continue journey of nation building and contribution towards socio-economic development of country. “The international recognition of decade long achievements of Pakistani higher education sector is outcome of dedicated hard work and consistent efforts put in by the management and faculty of Pakistani universities and HEC employees”, he remarked. On the occasion, Director General Learning Innovation HEC, Noor Amna Malik informed that the main purpose of the orientation program was to share HEC initiatives with the universities’ leadership and sensitizing them to implement higher education reforms in the universities. She informed that under Modern University Governance Programme of HEC, so far 735 university administrators have benefited since 2007.A number of vice chancellors who have recently joined their offices attended the programme.  The vice chancellors in their remarks termed the orientation programme useful, informative and successful. They also assured their utmost cooperation to the leadership of HEC for improving the quality of education in Pakistan. They suggested that similar training programmes should be continued in future as well. Dr. Javaid R. Laghari also distributed souvenirs among the participants of the workshop. Prof. Dr. Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed Executive Director HEC and Dr. Khwaja Azam Ali Managing Director Quality Assurance Agency HEC were also present on the occasion.
