LAHORE – Karachi bowlers bowled well to restrict Sialkot Region to 139 for four on the opening day of the five-day Quaid-e-Azam Trophy final for Super Eight here at the Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday.

On the curtailed day, Sialkot Region, who were put into bat first, did not take a good start as they lost their first two wickets on two back-to-back deliveries at the score of 40 runs. It was Anwar Ali who took an important wicket of Shakeel Ansar who was playing at 11 runs in 10.3 overs while on the very next ball, he showed the pavilion to Faisal Rasheed. Tariq Haroon was another Karachi Blues bowler who claimed the wicket of new arrival Faisal Khan at four runs in 24.2 overs.

After losing the three early wickets, Majid Jahangir and M Ayub steadied Sialkot innings with a 50 runs fourth wicket partnership. Akbarur Rehman of Karachi broke the taking wicket of Majid who scored 181-ball 54 runs with the help of 10 boundaries. At the stumps, Sialkot were struggling at 139 for four runs with both M Ayub (49*) and Mansoor Amjad (11*) were on the crease.

Anwar Ali remained the successful bowler of Karachi Blues as he managed two wickets for 32 runs while Tariq Haroon and Akbarur Rehman took one wicket each.
