LAHORE – The PML-Q efforts to open informal talks with the JUI-F for seat adjustment in the general elections remained inconclusive on Sunday however the top leadership of JUI-F left the issue open for discussion with Q-League, TheNation has learnt. JUI-F top leadership under the command of party chief, Maulana Fazlur Rehman met with PML-Q high command at latter’s residence to invite them for the upcoming JUI-F convened All Parties Conference (APC). The hosts of the JUI-F include, PML-Q chief, Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain, senior party leader, Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi, Shafay Hussain, Rasikh Elahi and Kamil Ali Agha,while, Maulana Fazlur Rehman was accompanied by senior party leaders, Ghafoor Haideri and Riaz Durrani. The PML-Q sources privy to the information behind closed door meeting between the two sides told this correspondent, though the purpose of the JUI-F leadership was to invite their party leaders for the APC, however the Chaudharys of Gujrat made an attempt to open informal talks to strike seat adjustment with the JUI-F in Khyber Pukhtunkhawa and Balochistan. The JUI-F leaders politely refused to take up the matter in this meeting even informally and told the PML-Q leadership to let them wait for the announcement of the general elections and the party leaderships in the mentioned provinces would ponder upon the PML-Q offer keeping in view their local political necessities. Meanwhile, the JUI-F insiders claimed that their party didn’t need seat adjustments especially in Balochistan, while in Khyber Pukhtunkhawa, they could think over seat arrangement with the PML-N. However, they added that many new political alignments would take shape at the announcement of the general elections and the JUI-F awaits to choose its political partners. Talking to the media after the meeting, JUI-F chief, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said, “We have given complete authority to our district organisations to decide the fate of seat adjustments”. He said that they came to invite the PML-Q leadership for the APC, while JUI-F invitations for the APC had already been accepted by Jamaat-e-Islami, Awami National Party and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. He added that he would be meeting the PML-N top leadership today (Monday) to JUI-F invitation. The host, PML-Q chief, Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain on this occasion without talking about the fate of seat adjustments with the PPP said, “The talks regarding seat adjustment with the PPP are going on”. To a question regarding the disputed seats, he briefly said, “Any voter falling in the jurisdiction of NA-105, Gujrat can become candidate from the mentioned constituency”. Talking about the peace and success of talks for this crucial issue, Shujaat said, “No talks can become fruitful for restoring peace till the halting of the drone attacks”. He said: “Conducive atmosphere is a prerequisite for the success of talks on any issue, no matter how much serious it is”.
