PESHAWAR - Syed Qasim Shah and Intikhab Khan Chamkani were elected unopposed as Pakistan Muslim Quaid (PML-Q) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President and General Secretary respectively here on Sunday.

To elect office bearers for PML-Q KPK, elections were held under the auspices of election commissioner Tariq Khan Swati, members Salim Shah Hoti and Abdur Raj Shaheen.

Only two contenders had submitted papers for contesting elections, Syed Qasim Shah for the office of presidentship and Intikhab Khan Chamkani for general secretaryship of the party.

Interestingly, no other member of the party opted to contest for other offices like Senior Voce President, Vice President, Joint Secretary, Finance, Information and other posts.

PML-Q KPK provincial council meeting was held which was also attended by its members from all 25 districts and FATA. On this occasion, the election commission announced Syed Qasim Shah and Intikhab Khan Chamkani as PML-Q provincial President and General Secretary unopposed respectively, and their election was later also endorsed by provincial council of the party.

Through a resolution, the provincial council of the party authorized the newly elected president Syed Qasim Shah and general secretary Intikhab Khan Chamkani to nominated office bearers on remaining vacant posts of the provincial cabinet of Q-League KPK after consultation.

Prominent among other present on the occasion were PMl-Q KPK newly elected president Syed Qasim Shah, General Secretary Intikhab Khan Chamkani, Minister of State Sardar Shahjehan Yousaf, MNA Prince Nawaz Allai, MNA Farzana Mushtaq, PMA Qalandar Lodhi, MPA Ghulam Mohammad Khan, former MPA Mushtaq Ghani, and others. Besides office bearers of the party’s FATA wing, labour wing, women wing, youth wing, minority wing Ulema and Mashaiq wing, Q-League FATA Coordinator Ajmal Wazir and vice president Sabir were also present on the occasion. In their respective speeches, they said that PML-Q is a strong political force of the province and it would be proved in coming elections adding that today the election process has been completed successfully, which they termed a big achievement.

 They said that it proved that Q-League is a democratic party and all its deci the party Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain, General Secretary Mushahid Hussain and others. They said that they would work hard to get the party united and win maximum seats in coming elections in the country.
