RAWALPINDI - A Senior journalist Aamir Vakeel was shot dead by some unknown persons near Committee Chowk in the jurisdiction of Waris Khan Police Station on Saturday. According to details, the deceased brother, a renowned journalist Kamal Azfar told police that some unknown assailants have shot his brother Aamir Vakeel. Aamir was shifted to nearby District Headquarter Hospital but he succumbed to injuries. Kamal said that he was in his office when his sister-in-law informed him regarding the heartrending incident. Meanwhile, the journalist fraternity of twin cities rushed to the hospital to express their sympathies with the bereaved family. Station House Officer (SHO) Waris Khan police station reached the hospital and recorded the initial statements of the family members regarding murder and started investigation. Talking to TheNation, the Investigation Officer (IO) ASI Khizar Hayat told that a case has been registered and expressed the hope that police would be succeeded to track down the culprits involved in this heinous crime. Latter, Namaz-e-Janaza of Aamir Wakeel was offered in Rawalpndi and dead body was shifted to his native village.
