KARACHI - Bin Dean Korean group has offered to invest 3 billion dollars in various coal mining and energy projects enunciated in Sindh Province. It was decided during a meeting with Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah his office on late Friday night. The Chief Minister appreciated the offer and expressed that the matter of energy projects would be further discussed in order to give it concrete shape. The Korean team also presented briefing about proposed project regarding development of coal and power plant aimed at facilitating the population of 167 million. The team also highlighted conventional system of Hydel electric power, Thermal power and nuclear power and non-conventional systems of solar power, wind power, tidal power and bio-man power. With regard to coal based mine mouth thermal power plant, the Korean team proposed 12,00 MW capacity thermal power plant for Thar. It further informed that the project would be developed and operated under build, own and operate (BOO) basis. The proposal adds that the said project can contribute to economy of Pakistan particularly in the fields of education, employment, foreign investment etc.As per proposed detail of project, the total investment is estimated up to three billion dollars. Advisor to Chief Minister for Mines and Mineral development Dr. Khatu Mal Jeevani, Secretary Mines and Mineral Development Younis Dhaga and Secretary to CM Syed Sohail Akber Shah were also present.
