HYDERABAD - Two children and an elderly person were killed and 12 others, mostly children were injured in a balloon gas filling cylinder explosion in Tando Allahyar district on Sunday. The incident happened in Mir Allahyar Fort area in the limits of A-Section police station. According to rescue officials, two persons - Sania Shahid (7) and an elderly beggar - died before reaching local hospital. While another injured Daniyal (10), son of Khalid, succumbed to injuries at Civil Hospital Hyderabad.

Nine of the injured, mostly children, were shifted to the hospital in Hyderabad. According to hospital sources, Daniyal died during treatment, while 3 injured children were in critical condition. Two of them were later referred to Karachi in serious condition, the sources added.

A man was selling gas filled balloons in the market area when the cylinder suddenly exploded leaving the children who were purchasing the balloons injured.

The hospital sources identified the injured brought to Hyderabad Muhammad Wasif (12), Asma (7), Abdul Ghaffar (20), Muhammad Moiz (11), Shujat Ali (10), Kirat (5), Um-e-Fiza (10) and Mudasir.
