KARACHI: At least 15,000 patients on Monday suffered at Jinnah Hospital here as they were refused treatment by doctors who continued their strike for fourth consecutive day on the call of Young Doctors Association in protest against delay in provision of salaries and allowances

Hundreds of operations had been postponed due to the strike.

Dialogue between the hospital administration and protesting doctors had failed. Out patient departments and operation theatres remained closed. Only the emergency department was functional.

The protesting doctors, however, have warned of closure of emergency services in case their demands were not met.

The hospital administrator claimed that the young doctors had agreed to work without salaries in the hospital for gaining experience and their protest in this regard was in violation of the agreement.
