islamabad - Islamabad police have been directed to ensure elaborate security measures around educational institutions and media outlets.

These directions were formally made by SSP Islamabad Sajid Kiani in a meeting held here yesterday. The meeting was attended among others by all zonal SPs, SDPOs, SHO and other police officials.

The SSP Islamabad directed all police officials including SP, SDPOs and SHOs to patrol around educational institutions in their jurisdictions at time of opening and closing of schools. He also directed to ensure effective security arrangements by deploying additional strength of policemen there and continuous patrolling in their vicinities.

He said deployment of security guards should be ensured at the rooftops of the educational institutions and similar arrangements to be made for security of media outlets and other important buildings. The SSP also asked to review the security measures around religious places including mosques and seminaries. He said that meetings should be arranged with administration of seminaries, and relevant police stations must be informed in case of stay of any person there.

Kiani also asked for crackdown on professional alms-seekers and take strict action against them. He also directed to take immediate action after lodging complaints by citizens and immediate steps for crime prevention.  He also warned strict disciplinary action against those policemen involved in dereliction of duties and sluggish policing.
