LAKKI MARWAT - Holidays of policemen have been cancelled ahead of Eidul Fitr while station house officers and other subordinated police officers have been directed to remain vigilant and maintain peace in their respective jurisdictions during Eid days.

An official said on Thursday that a comprehensive security plan for Eidul Fitr was formulated at a high level meeting held under the chair of District Police Chief Ismail Kharak. According to the security plan, the cops have been asked to avoid taking unnecessary leaves," said the official.

Under the security plan, he said, policemen would be deployed in Eidgah and other mosques to provide security to Eid congregations. "Besides, SHOs will increase patrolling in the area limits of their respective police stations and will tighten security and checking on the roads leading to frontier tribal region," he maintained.

The official claimed that thorough checking would help stop infiltration of criminals from the tribal region to the settled parts of the district during the days of Eidul Fitr. He revealed that the station house officers had also been directed to deploy cops at business centres, saving centres, petrol pumps, departmental stores and other important installations.

He said that notorious elements and suspects would be kept under constant surveillance besides raids would be carried to arrest dreaded outlaws and proclaimed offenders. "The subordinate police officials have been directed not to harass law abiding citizens, implement community policing plan and involve Mohallah (locality) committees to enhance security arrangements," official added.

He said that SHOs would be held responsible to stop occurrence of kidnapping, robbery, theft, car snatching and other heinous crime incidents and curb street crime.

He also said that patrolling on roads and highways would be increased to ensure safe journey and avert happening of road robbery incidents.
