LAHORE – Mahad Zafar played superb golf to clinch the 1st ZIC Pakistan Day Golf Championship title here at the Lahore Gymkhana Golf Course on Sunday.

Qayum Rashid, a former hockey Olympian, was the most adept one in the seniors’ category while the top one amongst veterans was Javed Hameed and Mrs Sameea Javed Ali captured the first position amongst ladies.

In the men amateur category, Mahad Zafar matched wits with his far more experienced opponents like Sardar Murad, Amir Mehmood, Imran Ahmed and Mohsen Zafar and through a sequence of three birdies and 13 pars, he produced an 18 holes score of par 72, in the process beating his father Mohsen Zafar by one stroke and Imran Ahmd by three strokes.

CEO of ZIC Shaukat Hassan awarded trophies to the winners in a grand prize distribution ceremony attended by Mian Misbahurrehman, Ziaur Rehman, Agha Ali Imam, Amir Mehmood, golfers and their families.
